Went there for breakfast. Despite its popularity I found the experience to be fairly poor. Staff are pleasant, but the food took a long time to be served. I had the Uplands Special, I believe it was called. Basically a full English breakfast. I did not enjoy it. I don't think this is down to the cooks but rather the quality of ingredients. The sausages had a skin so tough that they would split instead of cut, and the inside was like a meat paste. My solitary egg was tiny with a yolk roughly the size of a two pence coin. The mushrooms were rubbery, judging by their wrinkly exterior I suspect they were old. Toast was soggy as well. Beans were okay, hash brown was nice. When my wife suggested going out for breakfast she made a point to say to not go to Spoons. Upon leaving, she said, "Should have gone to Spoons." That being said, the place was busy, perhaps I chose the wrong dish?

Been coming to uplands diner for many moons.. never fails to deliver a superb breakfast or anything else you order from their most excellent menu, they have a halal section of foods too which shows how organized and up to date they are... the only reason I don't give stars is that i can never gurantee to get a table as they are usually super busy which says all you need to know really...Will be back again and again even though I'm clean eating..And yes they do healthier options than your regular breakfast.. you could have avocado with poached eggs for example to a Welsh breakfast with lava bread and cockles... thinking about it more I should really give stars...
